Kära växtälskare och vänner av frisk luft,
Under de senaste veckorna har det ställts frågor om detta, och därför tar vi idag upp en av de viktigaste delarna i vårt AIRY-system: vattentanken.
En välskött vattentank är nyckeln till framgång för friska och glada växter. Här är några tips och tricks för att få ut det mesta av ditt AIRY-system:
1. Vattenkvalitet: Använd alltid rent, helst kalkfattigt vatten för ditt AIRY-system. Detta hjälper till att minska avlagringar i tanken och säkerställa välbefinnandet för dina växter. Det positiva: Växter gillar "stillastående" vatten. Detta säkerställs genom vattentanken i AIRY-biofiltret utan ytterligare ansträngning från din sida.
2. Vattennivåindikator: Innan vi för många år sedan uppfann AIRY, fanns det vattennivåindikatorer endast för den så kallade "hydrokulturen". Växter i en hydrokultur står bokstavligen i vatten i en död, oorganisk miljö. Detta måste alltid hållas i tillståndet "Optimal" för att systemet ska fungera. Med AIRY är det annorlunda. Det finns ett "Minimum" och ett "Maximum" som på ett enkelt och, som vi tycker, mycket vackert sätt signalerar dig nivån.
3. Fyllnadsgrad: Du kan gärna fylla på vattentanken i AIRY-systemet upp till "maximalt". MEN: Det finns växter som till exempel Bogenhanf, som ibland föredrar att ha det lite torrare. Tänk därför på de grundläggande krav som den växt du använder har. Du får också tips och råd här i bloggen, via vår chatbot eller kontakta oss direkt (info@airy.green).
4. Användning av vattenadditiv: Beroende på behov och växtart kan du ibland tillsätta speciella tillsatser som gödningsmedel eller även vår AIRY Vitalizer till vattnet i tanken. Tänk dock på att följa doseringsanvisningarna för att undvika övergödning, till exempel. I grund och botten gäller: Mindre är mer!
5. Hur ofta fylla på: I vår reklam och även på vår webbplats pratar vi om att vattentanken på en AIRY håller i ganska lång tid (flera veckor). Det stämmer också. Men under de första veckorna måste man ofta fylla på betydligt oftare. Anledningen till detta är att den relativa luftfuktigheten i omgivningsluften är för låg. Växten och vattentanken avger då så länge MER fukt till rumsluften tills den har stabiliserat sig i ett behagligt tillstånd för växten (40 till 60%).
6. Substrat eller påfyllningsrör: För vattning finns det en enkel regel som har härletts från erfarenheterna under de senaste åren:
Efter plantering av AIRY-systemet, vänligen vattna försiktigt över substratet VID sidan av växten under de första fyra veckorna.
Häll sedan bara direkt genom påfyllningsöppningen in i vattentanken. Enda undantaget: Om AIRY-systemet är helt uttorkat, vänligen häll lite vatten över substratet innan vattentanken fylls. Först då återställs kapillärverkan i mineralsubstratet (det är alltid trevligt att höra knastrandet som substratet ger ifrån sig när det lagrar vatten).
Avslutningsvis ett ord om storleken på vattentanken i AIRY biofiltrerna, eftersom den är olika:
- AIRY S: cirka 0,8 liter
- AIRY M: cirka 1,6 liter
- AIRY L: cirka 3,2 liter
Ach ja, ännu en punkt:
Vattennivåindikatorn, alltså den långa staven med den lilla blå molnet på toppen, lyfts av en eller två luftfyllda kulor. Så var inte förvånad om du fyller på vatten i tanken och först inte ser NÅGOT hända. Detta gäller särskilt för AIRY Biofilter L och är också logiskt: Vattnet måste täcka botten av tanken och fylla den tillräckligt så att kulorna stiger. Och det tar ett ögonblick med den storleken...

Please excuse the very late reply to your comment. We just came across it by chance and realized that we are not automatically informed about the comments on our own blog…
To your points:
- the foul odor will probably have been caused by a lot of dirt accumulating in the water tank. This is encouraged, for example, if water is mainly poured over the mineral substrate or if fertilizers get stuck in the tank. In this respect, your cleaning measure was absolutely correct – and obviously successful, at least in this respect!
- to your second point. These are very likely to be fungus gnats. Although they are completely harmless to us humans, they are totally annoying and can also harm the plant in the long term. They are becoming increasingly common as plants are grown in greenhouses without peat and are therefore (more) biologically sound. Good for the environment, but also good for the reproduction of fungus gnats. The measures to be recommended are twofold: please collect the already living insects with so-called yellow boards, while the larvae can be controlled with various biologically sound means. We have had very good experience with the products from “Plantura”.

Dear Airy,
I have the large two-plant Airy, and the round single plant Airy. The water is both reservoirs smell quite foul. Our watering practice is to allow the meter to drop to the bottom reading before refilling. The plants seem to be healthy and thriving—cream anthurium.
With some flexible tubing I siphoned the water in the larger planter, flushed the substrate, refilled the reservoir to capacity, and drained it again. The foul smell is gone but mosquitos seem to be breeding in the reservoir.
Do you have suggestions for preventing / managing water quality and getting rid of unwanted insects?
