Do you wake up in the morning with a dry throat, a headache or just not feeling refreshed?
Then it may be because the air quality in your bedroom is poor, either due to pollutants or a lack of humidity.
The importance of healthy humidity in closed rooms is often underestimated. The relative humidity should be between 40% and 60%. We at AIRY are often on site with customers and take various measurements of the four important factors for air quality (CO2, VOC, particles and humidity). It is extremely rare that this recommended and recommended value is achieved. Most of the time, the measurements show values below 30%.
And that is a problem because:
-
Too little humidity dries out the mucous membranes in your respiratory tract, which can lead to irritation, coughing and even breathing problems. People with asthma or other respiratory diseases can be more severely affected.
-
Dry air draws moisture from the skin, which can lead to dry skin, itching, cracking and flaking. People with sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema may be more affected.
-
Too low humidity in the bedroom can lead to dry airways and an unpleasant feeling in the throat, which can disturb sleep. This can lead to sleeping problems and poor sleep quality.
-
Dry air can impair the protective function of the mucous membranes in the respiratory tract, which can increase the risk of infections, especially respiratory infections.
-
Dry air can also lead to irritated, dry eyes. People who already suffer from dry eyes may be more affected by low humidity.
- Humidity that is too low can cause dust and other particles to remain suspended in the air for longer, which can worsen allergy symptoms.
The AIRY system is (also) an innovative technology for regulating indoor humidity.
Three factors are responsible for this:
- The open water tank ensures rapid evaporation and circulation of water when necessary.
- Plants release the vast majority (over 90%) of the water they absorb back into the environment.
- The design of the AIRY system promotes natural air circulation in the room.
In January 2020, the renowned company M.TEC Engineering conducted a study measuring the effectiveness of the AIRY System L on the level of relative humidity in a 30 square meter room with furniture and people. It showed that using the AIRY System L in a dry room can increase the level of relative humidity by up to 10% during the first 24 hours.
