The care of a weeping fig (Ficus exotica) in a mineral substrate can be slightly different than in conventional potting soil, as the substrate meets special requirements.

Here are a few tips for you:

  1. Watering : Make sure to water the weeping fig moderately and let the substrate dry out well between waterings. Check the moisture of the substrate by poking it about 2-3 cm deep. If it is dry, it is time for another round. Make sure that no water is left standing in the saucer to avoid root rot. A good trick is to pour about 1/3 of the water over the substrate and add the rest over the water tank.
  2. Light : Your weeping fig needs bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the leaves from burning. A bright location near a window is perfect.
  3. Temperature and humidity : Your weeping fig feels most comfortable at room temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. It can also tolerate slightly lower temperatures, but it should be protected from drafts and sudden temperature changes. The humidity should be moderate, but normal room humidity is also okay.
  4. Fertilization : During the growth period (spring and summer), fertilize your weeping fig every 4-6 weeks with a balanced, liquid fertilizer or our AIRY Booster. In autumn and winter, you should avoid fertilizing or reduce it significantly.
  5. Care : Regularly remove dust from the leaves with a soft cloth or a gentle shower.
  6. Pests and diseases : Watch out for pests such as spider mites, aphids and scale insects. If your plant is infested, take appropriate measures to combat the pests. Our chatbot will give you tips on how to do this.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your weeping fig grows healthy and happy in the mineral substrate."
